One of the best advantages to guests renting our Disney World vacation rental is having the option of making your own healthy meals in our large well equipped kitchen. Plus it's smart for those who are doing Disney World on a budget because it not only gives you more affordable meal options, but it allows you to prepare snack and drinks that you can take with you into the parks. The meal and snack savings alone help to offset the vacation cost.
We have been around for a while owning a few homes in different Disney World vacation communities and have gotten to know the lay of the land. Hopefully our experience will make your search for groceries much easier. 1. The best option for us is finding a WalMart with a grocery store. The main reason for this is that we want a one stop shop to get not only groceries, but all the other items we may need in one shopping trip. We're like you - we don't go to our Orlando Encore Resort at Reunion vacation home to shop - we go to play. So WalMart allows us to keep our shopping adventure to a minimum while still providing quality products at a fair price. The great news is that the new Walmart Supercenter near Disney World is almost complete. This Walmart is only a 3 miles journey north on Old Lake Wilson Road from our home and will be the closest Walmart to our Encore Club Resort home as well as the closest WalMart and closest grocery store near Windsor Hills resort. They will also have an online shopping pick up center, so you can plan your shopping needs at home and it will be ready to pick up on your drive from the airport. Talk about a time saver! My only beef (pun intended) is that the meat selection at WalMart isn't always up to the standard of this home chef. I'm hopeful that this new WalMart will have a better butcher shop. 2. If you prefer a true grocery store, we recommend Publix. Publix seems to be the main grocery store around the Orlando Kissimmee area and it feels like there is a Publix in every strip mall. We use 2 Publix stores - the Publix near the main entrance to Reunion Resort at the corner of Old Lake Wilson Road and the Osceola Polk Line Road is our go-to store for general grocery shopping. It is our go to Publix because it is the closest to Encore Resort Orlando and the products there are very fresh and the selection is quite good. If we are planning a special meal and want a better wine and meat selection, we go to the Publix located in Celebration at US192 and Celebration Ave. I believe this is also the closest Publix to Windsor Hills. It's a very nice store and has a Whole Foods feed about it. It also gives us an excuse to visit downtown Celebration (much recommended if you have the time). 3. If we are travelling with friends or staying for an extended period of time, we love taking a trip to Costco to load up. Costco's meat department can't be beat and you can buy everything you need for your stay. The only problem is that Costco sells most things in bulk, so if you are only staying for a week you will likely throw much of it away. The closest Costco to our Disney vacation villa, as well as the closest Costco to Windsor Hills, is located at 4696 Gardens Park Boulevard in Orlando. The trip is about 20 minutes from our home, depending on I4 traffic. If you are a regular visitor to Windsor Hill, we welcome you to check out our home and the new Disney vacation home community in the neighbourhood. We are only a few minutes further south on S. Old Lake Wilson Road and all of our guests who have been Windsor Hills renters are now telling us they intend to become regulars at our Encore Resort at Reunion home because of the resort clubhouse amenities and the amazing water park. We would be happy to answer any questions you have and look forward to you joining those who are making the switch from Windsor Hills to the Encore Club!
