The Ogdensburg, NY airport was renovated last summer to expand the size of the terminal and extend the runway to allow for larger passenger jets. Since October, Allegiant Air has been flying from the airport twice weekly with flights to Orlando Sanford International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. We recently flew for the first time from Ogdensburg, NY to Orlando Sanford International Airport and can report that we were very happy with the service. While the plane was what you expect from a discount airline (less leg room and no entertainment systems), the service from the ground and air crew was exceptional. Check in and security in Ogdensburg was very quick and easy. In air, the crew was friendly and were by to sell reasonably priced snacks and beverages on a regular basis. We wondered about the additional distance from Sanford to our Disney World vacation home, but found that we arrived to the home in about the same amount of time as when we fly into Orlando International Airport. The time savings came from the quick departure from the plane in Sanford versus the monorail ride from the gates to the terminal in Orlando (although I did miss that nostalgic ride). All said, we will definitely use this airline again to get to and from our Orlando vacation home at the Encore Club Resort at Reunion and Reunion Resort.
Our whole family will be contributing to this Blog. We write about our experiences and news related to Walt Disney World as well as post our Encore Resort Blog and Reunion Resort Blog
